Properfans: Tapping into the mobile market of fans
What is properfans?
Properfans is a creator subscription platform. A platform that allows creators to create exclusive communities, where fans are only granted access upon being monetized, usually by paying a subscription fee. The creators are responsible for publishing exclusive content and offering fans exlclusive perks. As mentioned in my previous blog post, it must be worth it for the fans to pay the subscription fee.
The problem
The internet is evolving and the devices which are being used to browse it evolve with it. Internet users are moving from desktop to mobile, and mobile apps are beginning to dominate time consumption. Conventional websites are going mobile, to meet its customers on the devices and operative systems that they use. For properfans, it has become apparent lately that there is no creator subscription platform, that have pivoted to mobile. Some have tried, but none have done it to large degree, and have especially not seen much success with it. You may open with the question, “Why”? For starters, there just isn’t a lot of competition currently for creator subscription platforms, or more specifically, monetization platforms as a whole. Another reason is pure ignorance and laziness. The platforms that are big now, have the market almost for themselves. They can make any decisions they would like to their product — and still hold tight to their userbase. Because, let’s face it, where would the users go? Nowhere, as there are no great alternatives.
To sum it up, the problem is that no subscription platforms truly take mobile users into account. With the rise of social media apps like instagram and TikTok, the majority of social media creators and their fans, are going mobile. Creator subscription platforms will have to adapt to this and create great mobile app experiences. However, we must not forgot about desktop users, as they still exist, but they are becoming a minority. We must optimize our platforms for every medium and device.
Properfans and TikTok
Properfans isn’t made exclusively for TikTok, but i am predicting that out of every social media platform, we are going to make the largest impact on TikTok. Properfans is a platform made for creators and their fans. These fans are usually young, and are a part of the group generally known as “Generation-Z”. TikTok is where it happens for Generation-Z. It is the platform that they aim their focus at. The statistics speak for themselves. The app has more than 800 million MAU (monthly active users) — with retention rates higher than all other social media platforms. It is estimated that more than 75% of the MAU are also daily active users. Our mission on TikTok, is for as many aspiring creators as possible — to create their own properfans communities, consisting of their proper fans.
You would believe that third party subscription platforms are thriving on TikTok? They can and will, but we haven’t gotten to see it yet. The reason being, that the creators are not given the opportunity to use any of them. This takes us back to the market problem. Zero creator subscription platforms are built for the mobile user. Properfans will change this and TikTok creators are going to thrive. Thousands of exclusive communities are going to be formed, off of the incredible userbase at TikTok. This will be resulting in millions of paid subscriptions.
